Revolution Is Racist. Populism Is Sexist. Economic Justice Is Homophobic.
Caitlin Johnstone

The problem is there is some reality in the concerns of identity politics, we do have massive racism and sexism in the states, but I agree wholeheartedly with you when you say:

Identity politics is indeed a great way to cajole a large percentage of the population into supporting agendas that the ruling elites care about (economic injustice, war, surveillance, media propaganda, etc.) in exchange for agendas that the ruling elites don’t care about (pro-choice, anti-racism, marriage equality, etc.)

The problem is the left thinks it’s only the right that is “cajoled” and don’t see that Democrats as well as Republicans are using it as a form of magician‘s misdirection.

That’s not to say the average Democrat or average Republican is doing so, they (we) are just the manipulated masses. However, there is some clear sense at the highest levels, that many, though I doubt all (the well intentioned dupes are equally useful), see the game they are playing for what it is.

I agree in any case, we need to transcend labels and ideologies and somehow come together, end this rat race, and seek simple comfort for all. That, rather than a world of gamblers, betting the very future of the Earth and humanity, that we too might be a winners.
