Successful business owners have one thing in common: they want to be in the top 1% of what they do.
Here’s how you can use obsession to fuel drive and get into the top 1% of any industry:
What you’ll learn in this article:
1. Creating a Crazy Obsession and Drive to become the absolute best
2. Getting Expert Knowledge
3. Evolving professional Skill Set
4. How to Put in the work consistently to get into the top 1%
I was always the skinny kid growing up. I wasn’t necessarily bullied, but I was mostly overlooked. I remember always feeling like I needed to prove myself, to be the strongest and most respected person in the room.
So when I discovered weightlifting, I started pouring all my energy and time into researching programs, eating and lifting heavy.
For the first few years, progress was slow. But I kept at it, day in and day out. Finally, after four years of hard work, I started to see the first results and became much stronger.
I was now around the top people in terms of strength. When I began my gym journey I was weighing 135 lbs and was able to move my body weight.
Throughout the journey I put on some mass and ended up weighing 185 lbs and being able to squat 385 lbs and deadlift 450 lbs.
Looking back and analyzing this journey I can now connect the dots:
My initial desire to become one of the strongest and being respected turned into a massive obsession that fueled my drive.
I always strived towards being in the top 1% in the gym. Until the point where I’d focus my whole life around it and finally reach my goal.
This is the same for everything in life. You can only become wildly successful when you obsess over something and devote it your all.
A lot of successful business people nowadays used to be hardcore gamers or athletes back in the days.
It’s a recurring pattern.
Let’s talk about acquiring expert knowledge.
Because after all you can put in all the time and effort you want… If you don’t know what you’re doing, you’ll not see any results.
So here’s what you need to be doing:
Find an expert in his field that you can model and who will teach you or give you the resources to learn.
For me it was finding a Personal Trainer that taught me how to lift weights and eat healthy. Also I changed my environment to being surrounded by Power-Lifters who were twice my size and strength.
This put social pressure on me to perform and also enabled me to learn their tactics and secrets.
So you can reverse engineer how they achieved success in their respective area. And then you need to put your focus on getting your reps in to form this expert knowledge and valuable resources into a skill set.
Let’s put it all together:
1) You start with a desire to become the absolute best at what you do.
2) You then find somebody that achieved what you want.
3) You then model them and acquire their knowledge and resources.
4) You get the reps in.
If you struggle with consistency study this thread — it will change your life:
So basically you have to out-work, out-improve, out-strategize and out-last everybody else to get into the top 1% of your chosen industry.
