My Freelancing Journey — Episode #14 (Getting Lucky)
“Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.” — Seneca
I’ve been doing a lot of preparing lately and yesterday I got lucky. I got this email in my inbox.
Some random stranger contacts me out of the blue and says he needs my help with a project. I followed up immediately with an email and after a quick phone conversation it looks like I’ll be doing about a week’s worth of work for him. It’s an interesting project and it could turn into a longer term gig. Wow.
I don’t think of it as luck though, I think of it as serendipity. That special thing that happens when you’re not looking for it. But to even have the chance of experiencing serendipity, you have to be in the game.
I forgot to ask him how he stumbled upon my website, so I’m still not sure how he found me. That’s serendipity. My advice to you? Get in the game.
Until next time.
