I agree, sort of. I would amend your statement that “people are far easier to govern if they are apathetic and uninvolved” to “people are far easier to take advantage of and control when they are apathetic and uninvolved.” There are, unfortunately, very few Republicans interested in good governance. They seem to be interested in two things: 1) the power to exploit and/or control people (women, people of color, children, etc.) and 2) money money money. Worshipping Mammon as they do, they are eager to destroy democracy and hand over control to their Oligarch masters who promise them crumbs.
