Also, I can envision some people saying “I don’t care if you wax your eyebrows” without really understanding the alternative. Are they allowed to say, three months later, “PLEASE START WAXING YOUR BROWS AGAIN”?

Exactly what I was thinking. Also I wonder how much of giving up the extra things you do to your appearance (often as you age and your values/whims change and spend you time/money on other things) then contributes to husband leaving wife for hotter, younger woman (who still spends all that time/money on her appearance).
