Question Wednesday
Nicole Dieker

Here’s a question… Where do you get advice when considering a large purchase? My parents seem to think I should not buy a house in Baltimore at all; a well-known Baltimore crime writer thinks the location of the house I loved a few weeks ago is very bad; crime statistics websites seem to suggest its a fine location; Facebook makes my current (expensive) neighborhood seem very dangerous (there’s been a lot of violent assaults). Obviously buying a house (or a car, or choosing a college) comes with lots of factors to consider, but it seems like safety is both nothing to ignore and harder to quantify. (For an example: I can very easily find out my commute time from Google Maps and driving that route a few times.)
