I went to homebuyer counseling yesterday. They make you fill out a budget sheet in advance. I put in $400 a month for groceries and $100 for eating out. The counselor said she would change it to $300 for groceries and $200 for eating out.
This all made me think about our food budget discussions, and how much is “reasonable” to spend.
(Ultimately my budget was deemed “good” and the counselor was happy that I was saving at least $300 per month. And it’s really irrelevant how you divide up the grocery/eating out money if it still adds up to the same amount.)
