The Room Where it Happens
Meghan Nesmith

This is tough! I think that my “room” is being included in a group of friends/acquaintances that I know from patient advocacy work. A bunch of them just got invited to a summit at the White House (too on theme with “Hamliton”?). I have worked very hard, and made the decision to pursue a more sustainable career in a field that supports patients, but is more detached (by nature of how jobs work). This choice allows me to support myself, which is a huge goal of mine, but not sexy… ya know? So I do have those self-pity moments where I feel left out of the room where everything that’s worthwhile is happening.
