Please advise my 12 year old patient of this — I’m sure she will be very happy to know that her auditory hallucinations which tell her what an awful person she is and that she should kill herself are just due to the ‘pecking order’. Please tell her that she is constantly suicidal, cutting herself and seeing snakes slithering across the floor trying to get her…that it is because I and every other person trying to keep her alive (her parents, therapist, society, etc) are trying to have authority over her and keep her in her place. Yes, please tell her and my other psychotic patients that. I’m sure they’ll all just get up and throw off their suicidal thoughts and actions and just be the way you think they should be. Instead of trying to keep these people alive, just tell them that. I’m sure they’ll thank you.
