What If?

If you got so ill that you could no longer communicate, who would you want to speak for you? There are many factors that go into deciding this very important question that we all must face as a part of life.

The qualities that the advocatre needs to have are varied and unique to each of our family and life situations. Who in your family or among your friends is willing to bear this challenge? Who is fully aware AND accepting of your wishes? Who is capable of reaching a level of detachment where your wishes are more important than their own at the end of your life? Finally, who agrees with your philosophy about dying with grace and dignity?

After our voice has been chosen, we get online and find the advance care plan form for our state. Although, they are usable in all of the United States, it is handy to get the one for our own state. I can not stress enough how important this is because, for one reason, the medical establishment is designed to keep us alive at all costs. Even the quality of life after extensive interventions are performed and we are unable to experience the level of enjoyment as before the medical crisis.
