years ago, I used to volunteer in a night shelter occasionally, and that taught me that there but for the grace of God go I: I myself could easily become homeless at any time, and there really was no difference between me and most of them: I don’t use illegal drugs or have a problem with alcohol — and contrary to what a lot of people seem to think, neither do many of the homeless! They were just unlucky.
