Golden Penda

I like to share things …

from my part of the world.

Perhaps things you are not likely to see in your part of the world.

They just look like trees on the side of a busy road.

As I was going to pick up the boy from work today, I noticed some bright vibrant blooms on a tree, so on the way home, I asked the ‘learner driver’ to pull over so I could take some photos.

But, let’s look closer …

This is the Golden Penda.

It is supposed to be the floral emblem of Cairns.

(I didn’t know that until I did some research today)

That colour is so vibrant.
And look at those blooms up close.

The botanical name for the Golden Penda is Xanthostemon chrysanthus.
