I guess we have to remember that technology /= progress, or at least that progress can also come with negative consequences. I was reading a Twitter thread the other day about how most people working at these revolutionary tech companies don’t have a background in the humanities and don’t consider whether these innovative products and services they’re creating are actually good for humanity in the grand scheme of things. And they also don’t consider political/mass surveillance implications, either... think Cambridge Analytica, court battles over “unlocking” accused criminals’ phone data, etc.
