I love this article so much, because I hate, hate, hate the argument that “most gamers won’t be able to relate to the story” if a minority is the center of the story. Your idea that having games that many won’t be able to relate to, but will be able to empathize with is really great, and I think Dys4ia is a great example of a game that does this well. Creating games where players may not be able to relate to but are able to empathize with is, in my opinion, one of the most powerful tools of argument at a game designer’s disposal.
