Headlines are important.

Like really important.

It’s the first thing your reader sees and from that alone, they decide whether or not they will continue reading. And remember — if no one makes it past your first sentence, there is no way they’ll stick around to read the rest.

So without further ado, let’s check out the first format:

The Numbers Headline

The Numbers Headline calls out a clear number of ‘things’ a reader will get.

And ‘things’ could be many things such as tools, tips, lessons, reasons, benefits, apps, etc.

I personally LOVE this headline because it reveals clear tangible outcomes for the reader and also makes the writing process simpler — the gist of the outline is already done.

Here are 3 examples of Numbers-Type Headlines: (you’ll start to see these everywhere)

• The 1 Reason Cafe Coffee Tastes Different From Home-made Coffee

• 3 Life Lessons I Learned From Jogging For 30 Days In A Row

• 5 Tools To Upgrade Your Work-From-Home Desk Setup

Easy peasy — now onto the next!

The Question-Answer Headline

Fairly straightforward, this headline draws readers in with a compelling question.

Tip: You don’t want to give the answer away in the headline, otherwise readers won’t be curious enough to read on. Instead, keep the answer open-ended so viewers have to click through to find out the answer.

Here are 3 examples of Question-Answer-Type Headlines

• What If You Could Create A Hollywood Movie Right From Your Phone? This App Is Shaking Up The Movie Industry…

• Thought Flying Cars Were Impossible? Wait Til You See This…

• Struggling To Remember What You Learn? It’s Not Your Fault. Here’s Why…

The Journey Headline

The Journey Headline calls out an experience that the creator went through and compels the audience to click through to read about what happened.

They’ve already gone through the beginning, middle, and end and are simply sharing learnings or reflections from the experience.

Here are 3 examples of Journey Headlines:

• I Tried David Goggin’s Jogging Routine For 30 Days. Here’s What Happened…

• I Sold 4 Companies For $1M+ Each. Here’s What I Learned…

• I Painted With AI For A Week. Here’s What Happened…

And that’s it!

Those are 3 headline formats: The Numbers Headline & Question-Answer Headline and the Journey Headline.

Now go put em into action!
