Have you ever heard the phrase “Let go and let God”? You don’t have to be religious to benefit from letting yourself give up some control in your life. Thirteen months have passed since I did my first yoga workout. That $3.38 Goodwill video has become a game-changer for this 50-year-old with chronic back problems, even on top of a lifetime of workout variety.

Feeling the tension exit my spine from the top of my neck to the bottom of my tailbone is a great feeling, especially in this historically stressful autumn. Doctors say it strengthens and stretches back muscles, which keeps our spines healthier. I’ve been visiting the chiropractor a lot less during the pandemic; a development which, before starting yoga, would likely have put my back out.

Ahhh… how relaxing it is to watch the evening news show President-Elect Joe Biden’s first round of cabinet secretary choices. So nice to see people with experience in the agencies as well as career backgrounds in public service. The country is already calming down. The “bad boy” vs the reliable guy. The fun job vs the stable career. Sometimes we think about letting our head make a choice or letting our heart make a choice when in reality, it shouldn’t be one or the other. In emotionally healthy people, the head and heart are pretty much aligned.

The presidential election polls were right, at least in deciding the winner. They correctly predicted 48 states’ as well as the overall winner, although the margin was lower than predicted. However, this election was not close. Trump got walloped. Biden leads by 5 million votes and 3.3% already and that lead will grow by the time CA is done counting. He got 290 electoral votes, likely 306 after GA finishes up. And those aren’t the only reasons all the worry about how “divided” this country is a little exaggerated.
