This is great. I work for a company who puts the right values into practice without question, all the time, even if we do use the word “family” on occasion.
Elsewhere, though, it does seem like some leaders evoke this emotional rhetoric in an attempt to push employees to get their best work done. And it’s patronizing. Why the need for sweat and tears? For missed date nights and lost vacations? We should all strive to be (and hire) the type of people who don’t need that high-stakes intensity to produce amazing work. Thanks for writing pieces like this that will get us there.
