Cloud Reaction

How safe is the Cloud? Have you ever wondered what happens to your data once stored inside the Cloud? As more and more private users and companies transfer their confidential data to the Cloud, it becomes vitally important to first assess the associated costs of its convenience.

The lack of transparency among Cloud Computing Services is alarming. Users are often left confused as to how, when, why, and where their data is processed. Did you know that majority of Cloud Computing Services do not encrypt data? This means that security and dangers of data theft are very possible. Technically, Cloud Computing companies are allowed to perform data mining and collection techniques which could lead to the loss or deletion of data. Even the very nature of the Cloud, which allows it to be accessed remotely through internet connections, causes huge security concerns. The connections between the Cloud and its service providers are often times unprotected. This givers hackers an easy and quick way to steal private information.

“Cloud Reaction” is an installation created to explore the issues surrounding the Cloud. I ask viewers to seriously contemplate the risks and take steps towards improving their personal privacy of data.
