How to Pull Out Vehicle Window Signage Safely?

Removing vehicle window signage is a tricky job. It is the work of the pros. But if you want, you can safely pull them out on your own but for that you must be aware of the correct procedures and tools needed to be used for the task.

As many of us know, using vehicle window signage or just one way vision rear window signage can spell a great number of benefits. You can use them to advertise your business, express your interests or even exhibit your own contact information. Moreover, they also protect the windows of your vehicle from abrasions and scratches. However, after long-term use, you can also remove or replace them. Of course, you will not want to mutilate the paintwork or accidentally get scratches on the window in the process. In order to pull out window graphics safely from your vehicle, here is what you can do.

Firstly, apply a small amount of alcohol or vinegar on a sponge or soft cloth and use it to wipe the surface and perimeter of the signage. This will make the removal process easier later on. An alternative method is heating up the graphics using a heat gun or hair dryer, or parking out the car or van in sunlight. If the decal or graphics are old, heating them will soften the adhesive on their back. Sometimes, it may be possible to peel off the signage without using heat, alcohol or vinegar, but most wrap companies use weather-proof adhesives for manufacture.

After rubbing with vinegar or heating the signage, try to pull it out gently from the surface of the window by its corner using a safety razor. Signage that has been used for a long time might be brittle and tear off when removed using this process. If it seems rather difficult to remove the signage with safety razor, you can try pulling it off using a dental floss.

The next step after successfully separating the windscreen decal or one way vision rear window signage from your vehicle’s window is to eliminate the extra adhesive which remains behind as residue. For removing the residue adhesive, you can use a commercial adhesive remover. It is usually advised not to spray the remover directly on the window for it may trickle down and damage the paintwork. Read the instructions printed on the container of the remover carefully before using it. Apply some of it on a paper towel and then wipe the surface of the window with it. Repeat the process as many times as required for clearing off the residue entirely. Alternatively, you can also use a concoction of soap and water or a glass cleaner. But again, be careful so as not drop any of these solvents on the vehicle’s paintwork.
