The following categories I either don’t know enough about the technical aspects of the category to make a fair judgement or haven’t seen the short films nominated, so this is a note that these categories exist, but I am not prepared/qualified to pass judgement on them:
Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, Best Documentary Short Subject, Best Live Action Short Film, Best Animated Short.

Final note: I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Hunt for the Wilderpeople should have been nominated for Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Update 2/27/17: I went 12/18 of what I thought should win (and 5/6 on ‘Main Categories’). The only ones that I seriously thought the Academy got wrong was Best Actress and Original Song, but oh well.

Here’s the ones that didn’t go according to my list:
Best Actress, Foreign Language Film, Production Design, Original Song, Makeup, Costume Design.
