Past continues tense which is used to express an action in the progress or going on in specific time in the past. For instance: I was planning to open the door when he arrived. Now we got two past activity.
1st one a continues action which was in progress ( I was planning).
2nd one happened at specific time. ( when he arrived)
More examples:
- He was watching movie last night.
- She was drinking water at 10 pm.
- They were dancing yesterday.
- We were climbing the rock at 12 pm.
- You were playing football when I called you.
