Past continues tense which is used to express an action in the progress or going on in specific time in the past. For instance: I was planning to open the door when he arrived. Now we got two past activity.

1st one a continues action which was in progress ( I was planning).

2nd one happened at specific time. ( when he arrived)

More examples:

  • He was watching movie last night.
  • She was drinking water at 10 pm.
  • They were dancing yesterday.
  • We were climbing the rock at 12 pm.
  • You were playing football when I called you.
