Youth Business Stars Shine Bright in Denver

This summer, HOPE Denver Youth Program Manager Katie Broz partnered with STAR Girlz Empowerment in Denver, Colorado to teach young ladies about the importance of financial literacy and the essentials of business development. Of the 11 stars that went through the program, two girls, Azariah and Brooklynn, shone the brightest, winning the session’s pitch competition.

Brooklynn, founder of Quo’Tees

One of the winners, Brooklynn, decided that she wanted to do well in business by doing good socially. Recognizing the increasing negativity on social media and its effects on young people, Brooklyn wanted to put some positive energy out into the world. Through her tee shirt business, Quo’Tees, she developed a business that sells T-shirts emblazoned with positive, uplifting messages.

To most people, Brooklynn is only a sixth grader just starting out in life. However, thanks to HOPE Business In A Box Academies and community volunteers, she is much more than that — she is a budding entrepreneur with a flourishing business concept. In a few months, once she has completed her tenure with her business coach, she will have a fully developed business plan that she can pitch to investors and other stakeholders. Brooklynn is now empowered to make a change in the world through entrepreneurship.
