Look, I truly appreciate those who can wake up early and feel jump into their day. I tried it. I even embraced it. It didn’t take.
When everyone is still asleep in the house, and I am still sleepy, the only thing I want to do, is, go back to bed and rest.
My alarm goes off at 5:45 AM. My cat is ready to be fed and I pull myself together to be at work by 6:45–7:00. I am not going to be uber-productive until closer to 4 PM. That is when I hit my stride. That is who I have always been, who I always will be.
There are many people in this world who don’t have the benefit of a “day job” and they will never fit into this mold of, “wake up early to be productive.” They are busy making a living to worry about that crap.
I have a weekend part-time gig that I enjoy immensely that keeps me up late. I am not going to give it up just because it interrupts my schedule. Nor should someone tell me to do so because their self-help guru thinks so. Small business owners don’t have the luxury of a regular schedule, should they lose business to fit this model? Of course not.
I appreciate that this worked for you and for those of you that have a stable income and job that you can afford to live a boring life that sticks to a schedule, more power to you. For the rest of us… back off!
