Why make it something it isn’t?
Today was a planetary experience, quit making it about religion.
Today was an amazing experience that only happens a few times for those lucky enough to live a long enough life. My husband and I made pinhole boxes and got our eclipse glasses to watch. We took measurements of the temperatures and clouds. We then watched in awe how that even though the cameras didn’t seem to show a difference in the shape of the sun that we could see a 90% eclipse with the glasses.
The biggest shock was when we came inside and noticed how dark it was. It was like sunset in the house. I vaguely remember the eclipse in 1979 but not seeing it or anything that made a deeper impression. This time, I understand the planetary behavior that causes it and I am excited to hear about all the experiments that are conducted specifically on the eclipse because of the unique conditions the eclipse makes.
Then, I read a Facebook post that insists on spouting religion and fact that darkness fell 2000 years ago and only one man fixed the world. Come on! The world is much older than your dogma. Stop making things about your religion! This was an amazingly beautiful thing that happened today on this spinning blue marble. It will happen again and again, and it will still NOT be about your religion.
