Ask A Guitar Expert: Al Reitman’s Favorite Pedals
By: Nick Kudrys
Contributions By: Al Reitman
We recently posted about our favorite guitar pedals right now, and a big part of that list came from our in-house guitar expert Al Reitman, whose coming up on 11 years of service here at Cascio Music. (Congrats Al!) Seeing as it’s Pedal Fest here at Cascio we had a craving for more stomp boxes. Without further ado, here’s the top 10 pedals from the man that’s seen it all in the guitar department…
1. Shure Digital Wireless System
Not a full pedal, but the Shure Digital Wireless System allows you the freedom to be wireless on stage. Great for performers who are more active on stage.
2. T-Rex Replicator Tape Echo
If you want to go full retro, the Replicator Tape Echo should be your first choice. Featuring actual tape (like they did in the old days) this thing is wild.
3. Fulltone Deja Vibe Vibrato
As far as vibrato effects go, the deja vibe has a slightly bigger footprint than say the Viscous Vibe, or a Univibe, but offers a killer tone.
4. Wampler Tumnus Overdrive
The Wampler Tumnus is an awesome Klon clone and a great overdrive in general. It features a tiny footprint so there’s no reason not to have it on your board.
5. Way Huge Russian Pickle
The Russian Pickle might not be All-American, but it’s thick fuzz will blow your tone up to levels you couldn’t even imagine.
6. Way Huge Supa Puss
Another Way Huge creation, the Supa Puss offers a wet delay tone for your signal, time tap tempo, and a customizable subdivision feature. Supa sweet.
7. Keeley Dark Side
Described as David Gilmour in a box, the Dark Side is a killer stomp box that combines Modulation and Fuzz to create that classic Pink Floyd tone.
8. Wampler Pinnacle Distortion
Wampler’s distortion isn’t just a distortion. It’s a customizable signal changing war machine! Scoop the mids with a contour knob, pull the “brown sound” and sound just like Van Halen!
9. Strymon Timeline
Another delay for the list, this time from Strymon. Featuring a ton of presets types to choose from, 8 parameters to adjust, and an LED display this is an awesome delay for the money.
10. EarthQuaker Devices Avalanche Run
Can’t decide between a delay or a reverb? Why not both? The Avalanche Run offers your standard reverb and delay, but you can also reverse your signal, add a swell, and plug in an expression pedal for complete customization.
That’s Al’s picks for best pedals, but whats on your list? Let us know in the comments and be sure to subscribe for more music news!
