The Fourth: mood board

Frontier City at night is neon lights speckled across a city of black windows and buildings.

Ghost in the Shell is always an inspiration for anything that skirts or delves into the Cyberpunk genre. The same is true for The Fourth. GITS’ concept of cyberspace inspired the Vuw.

The original image that inspired Bron and the Flesh Recylers. He’d be toned down quite a bit but still keep that “mad-maxer” vibe. Credit goes to Josan Gonzalez for the image.

A lot of Simon Stålenhag’s work is great inspiration for the Eastern States and parts of the world that have tried to keep up with the innovation of The Fourth but still kept a lot of the old world.

I want Space and Mars to feel like a nostalgic place we’ve been pining over, like we did in the 50’s and 60's.

Tiffany is somewhere around a normal looking, normal dressing character who’s not trying to fit any stereotype other than being a normal person. Obviously, being in the future, her style matches that era, but it would still be considered “understated” or “minimal”. I had loads of ideas for her at first, that matched this “tomboy” style but I realised making her more average would help people feel like anyone could live in this world. A lot of the more punky-looking images I used for research would become Aimz, one of the flesh recyclers that assaults Tif early in the story.
