Should I buy in Ventura or Santa Barbara?

Ventura and Santa Barbara are both beautiful cities. Santa Barbara has a bit more charm, but they both have many of the same characteristics that make a great city. Both Santa Barbara and Ventura have beautiful beaches, robust economies, thriving arts and culture, and an exciting downtown social scene.

One key difference, however, is their respective Real Estate Prices.

My brother and I were both born and raised in Ventura County. We absolutely love the lifestyle and the resources it offers. From being world renown for great surf, to it’s unique culture and history, Ventura continually ranks as one of the top places to live in the Nation.

Santa Barbara, likewise, is a world class destination for a multitude of reasons. Just spend a couple days in beautiful Santa Barbara and you will be swept away by it’s charm, relaxed atmosphere, and seemingly unlimited activities to engage in.

Sean and I, as licensed Real Estate, agents have a very unique perspective on these two amazing cities. Even though we are from Ventura, we have both lived in Santa Barbara for multiple years. In fact, I currently reside in Santa Barbara and have lived here for more than half of my adult life.

I have always wanted to buy a home in Santa Barbara, but when conducting my analysis of the two markets, I realized that the better choice is to purchase in Ventura first and then move up to Santa Barbara when my finances permit.
