Kim Ji-Soo benched’ EPL Brentford fall to 1–2 reverse at Manchester United

Scottish professional soccer team Celtic, with substitutes Oh Hyun-gyu and Yang Hyun-joon, is unbeaten in its opening eight matches.

Celtic defeated Kilmarnock 3–1 at home in the eighth round of the 2023–2024 Scottish Premiership at Celtic Park on July 7 (KST).

Oh Hyun-gyu and Yang Hyun-joon, who started the game on the bench, came on in the 43rd and 44th minutes, respectively, but were unable to add any offense in their short time on the field.

Celtic took the lead in the first half with back-to-back goals from Leo Hatate in the 22nd minute and Luis Palma in the 33rd minute.

They pulled a goal back in the 27th minute of the second half, but Greig Taylor’s 37th-minute wedge put the icing on the cake.

Celtic maintained their lead at the top of the table with 22 points, having won seven and drawn one of their opening eight games.

Defender Kim Ji-Soo, who joined Brentford in the English Premier League (EPL) this season, was named to the roster for the 2023–2024 EPL Round 8 away match against Manchester United, but was benched.

Kim is yet to make his regular season debut for Brentford.

Brentford took the lead in the 36th minute through Matthias Jensen, but conceded two Scott McTominay goals in second-half stoppage time to fall to a 1–2 defeat.

Brentford are 14th (7 points) and United are 10th (12 points).

In the English Championship (second tier), Stoke City’s Bae Jun-ho started in the 11th round against Leicester City, but was unable to prevent a 0–2 loss.

Bae played until the 43rd minute when he was replaced by Sead Haksavanovic.

Norwich City’s Hwang Eui-jo came on as a 31st-minute substitute against Coventry. The match ended 1–1.
