Manager Kim Won-hyung applauds Moon Seung-won’s dedication to pitching four times a week in a crisis
The SSG Landers have completed a two-game winning streak with an upset victory over the Hanwha Eagles.
SSG, led by head coach Kim Won-hyung, won 6–1 at home against Hanwha in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League 스포츠토토 on March 30 at SSG Landers Field in Incheon. With the victory, SSG won its second straight game and completed a sweep, improving to 50 wins (1–0, 35 losses) on the season.
Starting pitcher Oh Won-seok earned his sixth win in five games with five innings of three-hit ball, three walks, five strikeouts and one earned run. Lee (1 inning), Ko Hyo-joon (⅔ inning), Moon Seung-won (1⅓ innings), and Lee Kun-wook (1 inning) closed the door with scoreless innings.
At the plate, Choi Jeong-jeong went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored, while Kim Sung-hyun, who came off the bench, hit a game-winning double. Park Sung-seong also contributed with a single.
After the game, manager Kim Won-hyung said, “Won Seok-i was in trouble, but he did his job as a starting pitcher. His fastball had good velocity and his slider had good movement and delivery. It would have been difficult for him to adjust his condition due to the rain interruption, but he did a good job in the first inning.”
“The player of the game is Seung-won. He came in with the bases loaded in the seventh inning and did a great job of getting out of the jam, and in the eighth inning, he got out of a jam with runners on first and third to seal the win. Seung-won made four appearances this week and showed his dedication to the team.”
“On the offensive side of the ball, Jung’s big hit and Sung Hyun-i’s RBI single in the eighth inning were crucial,” said Kim Won-hyung, adding, “I also want to praise the two veterans.”
