Stop looking for fans and followers

On too many regular occasions I see posts about growing your number of fans. Just pay us £xxx.xx and we’ll find you xxx fans in no time at all!

There are so many brands out there big and small that still use their total followers, or the month on month growth of this figure as a statistic to report against! Stop now!

This has no meaningful value as a standalone figure!

It’s the reach and engagement where the real value lies! Target those that do get involved; like, comment, retweet, watch etc. These are the valuable view that you should be targeting!

Think of your family, friends and even work colleagues.

Now let’s compare these against your Facebook friends on your personal account. Okay. So we can now add in Old School friends (primary and secondary), neighbours (old and current), those you’ve met through friends or on random nights out.

Now let’s look at those people you see or talk to on a regular basis. At least once a week. Who you share the most meaningful conversations with…

The ones who you have a deep and meaningful relationship with…

Those that know you more than you know yourself…

There’s no need to spend time or money on getting the total overall volume of fans up. Instead nurture the relationships that matter. True fans with follow, and they are the ones that matter the most. Don’t be afraid to grow organically!
