One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced when working on client projects was that, by the time the project was handed out to coders (or sometime even PMs) the requirements and to some extent the solution itsself had already been “sketched”. Deadlines, stacks, tasks all of them decided without event consulting a single person involved in the implementation process. Empowering developers as you put it has, in my experience, only produced quality work. I’m with you on this one.
