We had initially intended to start holding classes next month, however it looks like we might be holding off until June. With students effectively starting their summer early, we realize many parents are looking into summer program options for their kids. Catalyst Space will potentially be offering summer programs, if you are interested and would like to be notified when we have more information please fill out THIS FORM.

We want to believe that as a nation we are prepared to meet the current challenges ahead of us with the COVID-19 epidemic. If other countries are to be a warning to us, there may be a time in the near future where the essential personal protective equipment (PPE) will be in short supply. To fill this gap, we have seen a recent surge from the maker community to manufacture PPE with on open-source, community-driven, designs.

Catalyst Space has been one of the best-kept secrets in Altoona PA for far too long. As the areas only makerspace to serve the community it may have seemed intimidating to many at first, seeing their 3D printer selection, laser cutter or the large CNC router.
In February however, Catalyst Space is taking a slightly different approach by offering a mix of creative and arts-oriented classes. By visiting catalystspace.org/events you will find a fresh selection of classes ranging from pottery to woodworking and drawing. The reaction from the public has been overwhelmingly positive with their Wood Burning class nearly full.
Come see Catalyst Space at Trunk or Treat this year on October 29th from 5:30 to 7:30 in the adjoining parking lot of Chick-fil-A Altoona.
Come join us for a safe alternative to trick-or-treating. Children are invited to wear costumes and trick-or-treat while visiting decorated cars from local businesses.

Catalyst Space continues to grow, thanks in part to the generosity of our community. Fellow maker J.D. Gallaway was kind enough to donate a Drill and Driving set to our space after winning it through a Facebook group.
We had a very successful introductory class to Screen Printing put on by the wonderful makers at Lightning Bug Gift Co.
We will postpone the advanced class originally scheduled for this Sunday to allow additional participants enough time to complete their drawings before class begins. Please stay tuned for the dates and details.
Until now Catalyst Space has been focused on advanced manufacturing technologies such as computer numerical control (CNC), laser cutting and 3D printing.
After polling our Facebook community, we are excited to expand the selection of classes available at Catalyst Space to include pottery and screen printing! Classes on textiles are planned as well and will be launched in the near future.
Catalyst Space is an Open-Access workshop and incubator in Altoona, PA with the necessary tools and resources to inspire the next generation.
