August 2019 — Newspace
This monthly newsletter will provide you with insights on what is happening at Altoona’s epicenter for innovation and entrepreneurship, Catalyst Space.
We had a very successful introductory class to Screen Printing put on by the wonderful makers at Lightning Bug Gift Co.
We will postpone the advanced class originally scheduled for this Sunday to allow additional participants enough time to complete their drawings before class begins. Please stay tuned for the dates and details.
Participants for our first hand-building class have now picked up their finished creations! Once again, we are partnering with the maker at Sniklefritz Studios to bring you a wide range of pottery classes.
We now have classes designed specifically for children along with a multi-part series. The next round of pottery classes will be as follows:
- Hand Sculpting/Building — September 10th — Register Here
- Pinch Pot Monsters — September 24th — Register Here
- Micro Wheel Series Throwing (Part 1)—September 17th — Register Here
- Micro Wheel Series Trimming (Part 2)—September 18th — Register Here
- Micro Wheel Series Glazing (Part 3) — September 27th— Register Here
Once again, it is back to school time for kids; why not get them into the school spirit with some hands-on problem-solving? Save the date now for our annual Faraday Event, a day of science explorations and demonstrations occurring on December 20th, 2019. Students will be presented with opportunities to solve real-world technical dilemmas.
The club would not be possible without the generous support of our community. If you wish to donate specifically to STEM Squad, visit the donation link at https://www.catalystspace.org/stem-squad/
