The dark ribs are entries/exits

Just a quick update on the fabric form, I drew up a diagram of how we could possibly simplify it entirely, and make it easier to construct based on the feedback from Alessandra yesterday.

I was told that she said the top “layer” of the iteration was too complex.

So based on that, I came up with a simplified version which I believe would be easier to construct in modules.

It is a conceptual diagram and obviously needs finalising, but I think the overall shape could work well.

UPDATE

THE PLAN

Today we are working towards a final design. Taking this iteration into account we have come up with a simplified and much smaller pavilion, that still addresses all of the group requirements.

Based on that feedback we have come up with a simplified floor plan as shown below:

Iteration 1: COMPLEX (Left), Iteration 2: SIMPLIFIED (Right)

Key
Orange — Fabric structure
Green — Entries
White — Boundary space (where the 3 dimensional grid will be placed)

DIFFICULTIES

We are however, experiencing difficulty in modelling this iteration due to the complex fabric form.

UPDATE

Kingsley and Edward have managed to create the “simplified” form using Grasshopper using the lines provided by us. Thanks guys.

Note that the 3 dimensional grid around the structure will be created and added to the fabric form shown above. But I think it has to be based on a structural analysis, to locate the most optimal position of the support.
