life is long.
sometimes in life you come across people that speak a word to you that feels like it’s sent from above.
a few weeks ago a few close friends and i went to the coast for the weekend to get away. during the trip we had some real heart to heart conversations about the struggles of work, adult life, and the crippling fear of decision making.
with no real answers in mind, we used that space to carry each other’s burdens. to listen. to hear each other out. to encourage. it’s such an unexplainable feeling to be able to say all that’s on your mind- ugly and all- and still be loved and accepted and supported.
on our way home, we stopped by the tillamook cheese factory. what better place to have a magical moment than a factory filled with.. cheese!
in line we met a couple from michigan whom we ended up talking to about careers, callings, life. they were both vibrant and beaming with an authenticity, confidence, and warmth that few people i come across have. the husband was a social worker and the wife a school teacher.
their advice on not burning out?
“we have none.” LOL.
they did have advice on life and choosing a career however.
“life is long. enjoy the journey. and if you don’t like something, change it. you don’t need to stay there. don’t feel like you need to stay at the same place.”
it threw me off when they said life is long, because people more often use the phrase “life is short”.
but i honestly think that was something i needed to hear- that life is long. that there’s a lot ahead to look forward to. and there’s always time to start something new.
