SXSW is all about attitude. If you’re trying to see every super cool act and get attached to seeing the next best thing then you’re doing it all wrong dudes! The magic exists in going for all the free stuff with little agenda and you’ll find brand new bands and old established bands to enjoy, no problem. I’ve always had an amazing time and this year I saw The Zombies, Revel in Dimes, Young Rising Sons, local great Ryan Bingahm, The Ting Tings (who were so rad!!) and a number of other great bands. Maybe I’m just sick of people hating on SXSW and finding reasons to make it not cool or too overdone but, Austin has grown a shit ton so yeah, things are different and it’s a whole lot bigger but, the magic of Austin won’t fade any time soon. There’s a reason why such a wide and diverse mix of musicians still come to Austin every year. Maybe they won’t get discovered here anymore, but the people, the vibe and the fun keeps us coming back for more. Maybe all the free coozies too. It’s a damn good time to be in Austin during SXSW. Don’t get run down in 2016. Enjoy yourself and remember you’re not taking one for the team by going to SXSW just to report on what you learned. It’s an experience for people who like to rock and just like every cool thing, it’s bound to catch on. There’s still noting else like it. Until next time y’all.
