A Spiritual Journey and The Stages of Spiritual Awakening
A journey like this is one that puts you on your own personal path to self discovery. It is a journey that delves deep in the crevasses of your life, and sometimes from before birth and into past lives — if you allow it.
Sometimes an event or trauma in your life can very well trigger a healing or self discovery journey. Often times, people find themselves questioning everything around them and the conditioned predisposition ideologies. This, more often than not, leads people on the path of truth seeking whether for themselves or for other reasons. A spiritual journey is fundamentally different than a religious journey in that religion tries to establish and enforce a set of rules you have to follow. Whereas, through a spiritual journey, you are escaping a fixed environment — this realm per se- allowing yourself to see yourself and life in a different light.
So, what are the stages of Spiritual Awakening?
The Darkness: A feeling that life is not going the way you envisioned. You are completely disillusioned with the world around you. You may be showing signs of depression, anxiety, confusion, and internal void. This stage can manifest as a result from trauma. Questioning what life is to you with feelings of confusion, despair, and frustration is very common.
The Questioning: You know in your heart there is something much greater than that around you. You may begin exhibiting feelings of going into a deeper search in life. You are no longer looking at reality the same anymore. You start noticing the little things and seeing the bigger picture in your surroundings. You start asking questions as such, “Who really am I?” “Why am I here?” “Why are we all here?” This stage can make you isolate from others — The Hermit stage — wanting to have time for yourself to reflect, to avoid small talk and to find a deeper meaning to everything in your life.
The Pursuit: The darkness and the questioning lead you to pursue a journey to soul searching — whether it be a healing journey or a journey to find life’s meaning. It all ends up on a path to look within ourselves. Somehow, deep down, you know the answers you seek are within yourself. You may notice yourself isolating more than socializing with family and your peers. You may realize that you are observing more than you are speaking through your interactions. Your consciousness is expanding.
The Deep End: At this stage, you begin to really dig deeper into your spiritual journey making more solid commitments to yourself and the practice(s) you may have developed. In doing this, you begin to feel more connected with nature, and truly having the internal bond between your mind, body, and soul. You begin to recognize Oneness and your connection with your higher self.
Integration: During this stage, you come face to face with your ego and its shadow. As you progress toward enlightenment, you identify less with your egoic self and more with your spiritual essence.
Spread the Healing: Whether you came into this journey because you needed to heal or not, there is an unavoidable pull to share your story and to share the need to help others heal around you. At this stage, you have enveloped your own modality into your daily life and practice — whether it be Reiki, Yoga, Breathwork, Cold Therapy, etcetera — now the need to show others their true potential is at the forefront. This is truly the final stage of healing. When you are able to help even just one person, it creates a ripple effect. Your thoughts create ripples. Your emotions create ripples. Your actions create ripples.
Are you ready to find your life purpose? What do you feel you are meant to do in this lifetime?
Living your life’s purpose puts you in harmony with the universe. It works with you, not against you. We are beings made of energy, frequency and vibrations. What we put out, the universe returns to us. Be humble, allow yourself to align with nature, and let go of fear, worry, and anger and let the journey show you the way.
Remember, everything changes when you begin to emit your own frequency rather than absorbing frequencies of others around you. Your body is your temple. It is your garden. Water it and provide it with positivity, and good intentions. Have compassion, love, and kindness for yourself.
Your heart is your light. Breathe life into it. Breathe love into it. Breathe compassion into it.
Love and light,
Namaste.
