I am encouraged to see how many people responded thoughtfully to this piece. I started on Medium following my brave friend Diane McDaniel. What I love is the way it is possible to connect to others, as a reader and a writer — to be continually suprised. I rarely read the top techie recommends, but skim around, follow The Lighthouse, Bright, Human Parts and a few others. As Alan Ginsberg said, “don’t smoke the official dope”. We need each other’s true stories, and the open nature of this forum gives us that chance.
