This is why I like Medium. I appreciate this post and all the thoughtful and respectful comments, even when people disagree. It gives me hope that it is not too late to begin these conversations — across gender, race and class, to open up about the wounds we have inflicted on each other. We’re in this together — future generations are counting on us. I’ve published a piece here about our civic bond like a marriage in crisis, and ended it by saying the way out of the darkness is being open about our own fears and vulnerability not projecting enmity onto the other side. Too often I have felt such vitriol, both in the US elections and in the UK around Brexit, vitriol which feels more emotional than rational. We can disagree about politics, but the level of bile and hatred comes from much deeper than that. Well done my Medium comrades. I look forward to reading more from everyone.
