How to Live Your Authentic Story: A Personal Viewpoint
Part of the Why Storytelling Series
“If you are able to live the story you want to tell, the people you’re telling it to are more likely to believe it because you’ll get all the details right.”
-Seth Godin, All Marketers Tell Stories
Keep It Simple, Honest and Clear
How do you manage to live the story you want to tell? How do you live your authentic story — your why?
I’ve thought about storytelling a lot over the years from the perspective of brand marketing.
Lately, though, I’ve also been thinking a lot about personal brand storytelling, and how people live their story — authentically.
How can you keep it simple, honest and clear in day to day life?
Remember, Move On and Imagine
My two cents?
- Acknowledge the past, good and bad, and move on.
- Live in the moment, so you can enjoy it, remember it and then move on.
- Imagine your best future, and make that part of your story.
- Be willing to face adversity, because adversity is inevitable.
And, as one of my favorite authors said:
“We are what we pretend to be… so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.”
Be true to your keystone — your authentic story — and then live that story.
