Introducing Cat Person
Today, we’re introducing Cat Person — a company dedicated to helping cats and cat people live a better life together.
We’ve been working hard on this for a long time and anxiously awaiting to share it with the world. We just didn’t expect it to come at a moment of such uncertainty and unease. In fact, we debated whether this was the right time to launch. Like so many people though, we’ve been spending a lot of time at home with our cats, and it’s reminded us how much we rely on them for their unique companionship and comfort. Perhaps now more than ever. So, we’re launching Cat Person with a deep commitment to help bring cats and cat persons closer together in this time of need.
Cats are incredible. They’re inquisitive and independent, playful and friendly, and an endless source of entertainment and love. For many of us, they’re not only pets but members of our family.
But, caring for a cat isn’t as easy as it could be. As cat persons, my co-founder Lambert Wang and I are acutely aware of this. Pet stores are more like dog stores — you have to navigate aisles of dog products just to find a small cat section tucked away in the back corner. Once there, all you’ve got is a limited and lackluster selection. You don’t know which food brands are truly healthy, and the furniture is either generic or outdated. We were stuck buying beds and bowls designed for small dogs, and ultimately, left feeling disappointed and underserved.
It appeared no one was singularly focused on all the needs of our furry friends, or considering what could make cats and their people feel great and more connected. We started talking to other cat persons — cat dads and moms, older and younger cat parents, city dwellers and suburbanites — and it turns out we were not alone. We even ran a survey, and found that 80% of cat owners believe our culture caters more to dog people than cat people and 74% of cat owners wish they had healthier options for their cat. And on top of it all, everyone was sick of the outdated perceptions around cat people. (Crazy cat lady, anyone?)
What surprised us though, was learning that there are more cats than dogs in the US. It certainly didn’t feel that way walking into pet stores and seeing what’s out in culture. But it reaffirmed our belief that this was an overlooked population and that the cat industry hadn’t kept up with what cat persons want and what our cats need.
We knew we could do better. To make it easier for people to connect with their feline friends and actually make their lives better. Now, after nearly two years of development, we’re excited to share a line of cat care essentials, including food, treats, beds, bowl and toys, all designed specifically for cats and their people.
We started Cat Person because we saw a real need for better cat care. A need for products that work specifically for both cats and cat persons. A need for someone to treat cats and the people who love them with more consideration and respect. And, in today’s world, a need to help make life at home with your cat a little bit better. We hope you’ll join us in proudly calling yourself a Cat Person.

About Cat Person:
The Food
As obligate carnivores, we know cats need animal protein — and lots of if. That’s why we developed our high-protein recipes without the fillers like grains or unnecessary carbs, while ensuring a delicious taste that cats will love. The ingredients are simple and clean, so it’s easy to understand what’s in the food. As cats are notoriously finicky, we developed 19 different recipes — eight flavors of wet food across two different textures and three different flavors of dry food — all in smaller packaging to allow freshness and variety.
The Goods
Our goods are designed by experts who are cat persons themselves. The easy-to-clean and stylish Canopy Bed features a covered top and a memory foam mattress designed for a cat’s natural sleeping position. Likewise, our Mesa Bowl features a shallow depth to help with whisker fatigue, a problem with generic pet bowls that are too deep. The elevated bowl height helps cats with proper eating posture. And all are designed to fit beautifully in a modern cat person’s decor.
