Benefits Of Using Red Carpets At Homes

The red carpet has been rolled out to welcome many heads of state and celebrities at the world’s most prestigious award shows like the Oscars, Golden Globes, and Emmy Awards for decades. However, its origins may surprise you! Between the 18th and 19th centuries, red velvet was a popular commodity in Victorian society used in everything from upholstery to clothing. In fact, it wasn’t until after Queen Victoria wore a stunning dress made of scarlet silk velvet in 1860 that this luxurious fabric became a fashion staple in British high society. Of course, after being introduced to Hollywood by designer William Mizner in 1927), it didn’t take long before no big awards ceremony would be complete without celebrity guests posing on a lush carpet clad with shimmering red hues.

In fact, the first time a red carpet was used as an official walkway to an awards show occurred at the 2002 Golden Globes when People Magazine celebrated its 50th anniversary. In honor of this milestone event, a purple and gold runner covered with flower vases filled with golden stargazer lilies was laid out from the entrance of the Beverly Hilton Hotel all the way to its ballroom’s stage. This special occasion also incorporated specially designed pedestals adorned with a single rotating crystal globe that were placed alongside the red carpet for presenters and nominees to stand on during their entrances. And while it may have taken 80 years for red carpets to make their grand debut, once they did they quickly became official staples at not only award shows but also movie premieres, fashion shows, and gala events.

Who knew? Red carpets may not be as manly as you think! With that said, let’s take a look at five benefits of red carpets:

1) Added Security — In the same year that the first Emmy Awards ceremony was held in 1949, security guards were employed to monitor red carpets from both fans and stars alike. And while they have been beefed up over the years with everything from metal detectors to sniffing dogs for bombs, one thing has remained true — it’s imperative that celebrities are properly guarded on their walk down a red carpet. Whether a star is expecting dozens or even hundreds of fans to greet them or if they expect complete strangers to want their autograph, there’s always a chance that someone may try to harm them. And by positioning security guards along the carpet it ensures that less mayhem will ensue… or at least until they reach its end where fans are free to swarm them again!

2) Added Flair — If you ask anyone why red carpets are used during award shows and other major events, they’ll tell you it’s because of its awesome ability to add flair to any room or event! Whether a star is strolling down the red carpet for the first time at an exclusive movie premiere or if they’re strutting on one for their 10th appearance at a glamorous awards show, seeing them step out in style with the added touch of flowing red carpet beneath their feet is enough to make even the most cynical onlooker go ‘Wow!’

3) Added Excitement — Of course, one of the biggest reasons red carpets are used by celebrities and other public figures is due to their ability to add excitement to any event it graces.
