The red carpet has been rolled out to welcome many heads of state and celebrities at the world’s most prestigious award shows like the Oscars, Golden Globes, and Emmy Awards for decades. However, its origins may surprise you! Between the 18th and 19th centuries, red velvet was a popular commodity in Victorian society used in everything from upholstery to clothing.
