Plenty of employees at startups never even know anything perilous is going on. Why should they know the specifics? Often knowing the specifics can only hurt day to day effort of an entry level employee. And the perceptive ones pick up on when things are becoming dire.

And any general upfront warning of risk to a 20-something is likely never real until they lose their job because the company ran out of money.

And if you’re in your 30s+ still joining the startup game, you know the risk and the pain, probably better than you care to.
