Creating a lifelong work of excellence

Recall

A masterpiece, in the most historical Middle Age adoption of the word, is used to describe a submission by an apprentice or craftsman as means for acceptance into a guild as a recognized master of that particular trade. For if the candidate were a chef, his or her masterpiece might be a decadent meal; and if the candidate were a tailor, his or her masterpiece might be a tuxedo. Mastership involved intense craft specialization and objective guild acknowledgement of the former.

Define

An uncle of mine expressed the importance of creating a masterpiece. His modern definition took the principles of the historical context fused with an existentialist approach. The subject is irrelevant; what matters in this endeavor is the persisting pursuit of profound freedom, virtue, and authenticity. The master will work meticulously, creating an inimitable brushstroke for a painting, or perfecting the note-by-note composition of an album, or even employing deliberately audacious, yet innovative practices within a master’s startup. It is a lifelong journey treaded carefully by foot. One that leaves a posthumous imprint as a paramount work of its kind.

Motivate

The master’s motivation is not to be rooted in the approval of others, instead the master’s motivation should be rooted in the process of self-actualization independent of external influences. To achieve this, the master must utilize self-control to eliminate the transmission of this undertaking. If details of the masterpiece are divulged or discovered prematurely, the work is no longer a work of the master; it is the work of those who have sullied its purity. For while the master’s actions use the law of attraction, their words and thoughts use the law of distraction and occasionally the law of detraction. He or she must be very careful.

Practice

In practice and in execution, any and every person should commit to creating a Modern Masterpiece of their own before leaving the world. There is not a certifiable qualification that permits one to create; the master decides when he or she will commence. Upon this decision, the master will determine a craft that is suitable for his or her pursuit. If a master is unsure of which craft to pursue, he or she should initially reflect internally and then towards the natural world. God-given talent is one, but not the sole deciding factor in determining whether a craft is suitable or not. Although, talent is not to be ignored, as it can assist in determining which skills a master could choose to allocate his or her most precious resource- time. Second, the craft must pique the master’s interest. He or she can try new ventures; discovery is a part of the process. Lastly, the master can examine and analyze other masterpieces of the natural world. Doing so will enable the master to assess the inspirations of his or her surroundings.

Achieve

A modern masterpiece has no gradation of failure to success, other than failing to create. Neglecting the freedom, virtue, and authenticity of a creation is an offense to the master’s self, it is also an offense to the natural world. If by which the master is concerned of the level of excellence in his or her creation, the master must remember that excellence is in the inimitable uniqueness drawn from within. Unless of course, the work of a master is drawn inauthentically from an external influence- not to be confused with an external inspiration or the natural world- then the masterpiece may validly be considered such. The master must remain true to the code of his or her pursuit. Failure in creation is nonexistent.

Be

While the master incubated the idea, the modern masterpiece is a being of its own right. One that is carefully crafted and will long exceed that of its master’s life. Not is there a term or power that expires the masterpiece’s character, for even an anonymous mark begets a new life and a new piece in history. Upon commencement and throughout, freedom, virtue, and authenticity will prevail through the work of Modern Masterpieces. Let the natural world speak.
