Android Marshmallow is a modification and extension of the key features and functionality of Android Lollipop. This is a complete review of Android Marshmallow that includes some of the major features of Google’s latest OS version to let you know where it rocks, where it fails to spot, and where it has room for improvement.

Android Marshmallow is visually parallel to its forerunner, Lollipop, in a lot of ways. Google’s Material Design language is now more enveloping than ever before and the key areas of the UI — settings, notifications shade and navigation — are the same. But Marshmallow does boasts of some differences in outward show and new features, explains an expert from CCOM Telecommunications Pvt Ltd.

Lock screen

The Marshmallow lock screen is approximately identical to Lollipop’s, inclusive with expandable notifications and app shortcuts. But while Lollipop had shortcuts in the underside corners that led you to the camera and dialer, Marshmallow reinstates the dialer shortcut with one to Google’s voice search.

Home screen

The similar voice command functionality emerges on the home screen through Google’s dedicated search bar, inclusive with the multi-hued, post-Alphabet Google logo. The home screen is basically the same as it was in Lollipop (the alterations to Google’s search bar and app icons have dispersed to all devices via updates).

App drawer

The app drawer in Marshmallow had undergone a few changes during the developer preview process and came out in the final version as a vertical scrolling list in place of the paginated straight list that Lollipop had. The user can scroll through the list or else use a new scrubber bar on the right to switch to a specific letter of the alphabet.

Notifications and Quick Settings

Just like Lollipop, Marshmallow has a two-part notifications/Quick Settings area. A sole swipe down from the top of the home screen will bring down the notifications shade, where your flexible notifications are present. The next swipe down on this screen divulges the Quick Settings panel.
