CCS is a hand-drawn art project that depicts humanity’s indifference toward global warming and its future consequences in a playful and ironic manner. The project aims at creating a global community that will benefit both the NFT and the planetary ecosystem.

Climate Change Survivors NFT Project: The Manifesto
Decentralization and transparency: These two concepts make up a solution to a very large part of the political and economic problems in today’s world. Blockchain technology is one of the most important tools for this change — and along with it, NFTs offer tremendous potential for change. This universal network will revolutionize the professional lives of artists as well as how supply chains, social networks, patents, smart contracts, political voting, and management systems work. It will affect anything that involves the concepts of ownership and authenticity.
However, despite all the beneficial potential, blockchain operations are currently polluting our world. Ethereum, the network where Climate Change Survivors will be living, requires more power to run than the annual electricity consumption of entire countries such as the Philippines or Belgium. An average Ethereum transaction consumes the same amount of power as an average household does in 9 days. That is a lot of power indeed.
In that case, why are we building Climate Change Survivors on Ethereum if we care about the environment? That is mainly because the problem is not entirely due to Ethereum — but it is the means through which power is produced and consumed around the world. Every single electrical device around us requires power to run but as individual citizens, we mostly have no control over the source of this power. We only have control over how to consume that power. The policymakers and energy conglomerates have dirty habits and they are not in a rush to break them. And we, as individuals, have mostly been indifferent in our choices when it comes to living ecologically.
The Climate Change Survivors NFT project aims to point out this very indifference and passiveness of the society in the face of ecological degradation. To that end, the Ethereum blockchain and community presents itself as the leading network in terms of reliability, range, and adoption when compared to other smart contract platforms which allow for the issuance of NFTs. On top of that, the Ethereum community has come to the agreement that Proof of Stake is the way to go for efficiency and near-carbon neutrality — and therefore is in the progress of updating its protocol. This is a symbolic shift for humanity in the sense that it represents the adoption of cleaner methods for productivity and champions a positive change no matter how hard it is to implement — and we really appreciate that.
But we are not simply passing the buck to Ethereum’s shift toward the Proof of Stake protocol for becoming an eco-friendly project. It is our sincere belief we should have complete awareness and responsibility for our carbon footprint, especially while Ethereum still runs on Proof of Work. Therefore we aim to keep track of the amount of power that will be consumed for every transaction related to our NFT project, calculate the amount of potential pollution we cause, and compensate for that through reforestation and restoration of green areas around the world. Besides, we are planning to donate 10% of all our project revenue to ecological NGOs which will be nominated by our community. Moreover, we have the intention of funding global art projects such as public installations or other NFT projects that aim to create ecological awareness and support startups and innovations in the green tech industry. All of these will culminate in the final step of our roadmap, in our greatest ambition of building an entire eco-village that runs on green power — this is going to be the biggest manifestation for all the NFT projects in the world as a proof that NFTs can and should be more than just a way of making money. We will prove that an NFT project can be a statement, a cause, and a symbol of everything a community can achieve for a greater purpose.
So, yes, we are a digital art project with an ecological agenda — but do not fret. You will not be exposed to tried-and-ignored awareness-building methods such as shocking images, hard-to-swallow communication materials, or aggressive campaigns. On the contrary, we are inviting you to a colorful experience regarding climate change — as never done before. During this journey, we wish to discover and develop ways of making cleaner production and consumption habits while keeping our living standards by improving our eco-literacy along with implementing the aforementioned roadmap goals.
And this makes Climate Change Survivors a community with a global purpose that can benefit both the NFT and the planetary ecosystem. To that end, we have banded together as a group of like-minded people from different backgrounds with shared values and great competence in our individual fields. We have recently started our work on creating wonderful artwork, writing solid code, planning a colossal marketing campaign, and bringing together hundreds of thousands of people from around the world that share the same vision.
We acknowledge that it is only possible to design the future by blending together the noble disciplines of art, science, technology, and communication. Our global community that shares this purpose is growing in size and becoming increasingly more valuable for the ecosystem. Join us and become an ambassador of change.
