Christopher C. Taverna is an Information Technology and Talent Development professional who helps people build skills for navigating the 21st century workplace. With over 25 years industry experience, Chris knows that each person uses technology in their own way on their path to success. Chris currently works in the Academic and Collaborative Technology department of The State University of New York at Fredonia as a Training and Knowledge Management Specialist. In addition to numerous technical certifications, Chris is a Certified Faculty Developer and a Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Certified Practitioner. Chris holds a B.S. in Mathematics from The State University of New York at Fredonia. Additionally, Chris and his wife Karen run a wellness based leadership coaching business.
Chris is currently serving as President of the Fredonia Chapter of United University Professions. United University Professions (UUP, Local 2190 of the American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO) is the union which represents the faculty and professional staff at the state-operated campuses of the State University of New York. The Fredonia Chapter of UUP represents approximately 600 academic and professional employees at The State University College of New York at Fredonia.
Chris is currently serving as Vice-Chair of the State University of New York Educational Technology Officers Association. The Educational Technology Officers Association (EdTOA) is an alliance of instructional technology personnel within the State University of New York (SUNY). EdTOA provides a forum for its members to share common concerns and an avenue for relaying those concerns to SUNY System Administration. EdTOA fosters efforts to identify, improve and support instructional resources within the university structure.
Chris is currently serving as a Board Director of the Chautauqua Leadership Network. The Chautauqua Leadership Network (CLN) works to identify and nurture regional leaders, provide a framework for an emerging network of skilled civic trustees and help our communities to meet the challenges of today and the opportunities of tomorrow.
Chris is currently serving as the Advisory Council Chair for the Chi Pi Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega. Alpha Phi Omega is committed to bringing together college students in a national service fraternity in the fellowship of principles derived from the Scout Oath and of the Law of the Boy Scouts of America; to develop Leadership, to promote Friendship and to provide Service to humanity; and further the freedom that is our national, educational and intellectual heritage. Founded on the Cardinal Principles of Leadership, Friendship and Service. It provides its members the opportunity to develop leadership skills as they volunteer on their campus, in their community, to the nation, and to the organization.
Chris lives in Fredonia with his wife Karen, three children, three cats, and one dog.
