Who Says Geometry is Boring?
Mathematics has always been of the dreaded subject of most students. As they say, it is hard and complicated. As they look at their teacher discussing a mathematical concept, they just stare blankly with their minds wandering somewhere else. Mathematics is boring and so its branch, Geometry.
This thinking has to change! Author Carlos “Carl” Lupton brought the readers especially the younger generations an exciting and fun approach to Geometry on his book, “The Wonderful World of Genie Geometry.” He entrusted the marketing of his book to FolioAvenue Publishing Service to reach a wider market.
The story started with Grandpa Pythagoras who is known to be the Father of Pythagorean Theorem. The whole story is being narrated by Genie Geometry. She tells the students about the members of her Geometry family, the special characteristics of each one and the marriages that took place in their family. She highlights the following: the world famous Grandpa Pythagoras Geometry, Grandma Trulia Right Angle-Geometry, Great-Grandpa ‘Segy’ Geometry, and Great-Grandma Genie 2Sides-Geometry, as well as Great-Uncle Linus Geometry and her father, ‘Con-Groovy’ Geometry.
This is a story of family, a tale of love, and a unique way of learning Geometry. The book is coupled with a picture book to capture even more the attention of the children. This combination is an embodiment of what is commonly aimed at getting a concept across, “that is does not have to be dull and boring.”
The author Carlos Lupton graduated from Castleston State College, in Castleston, Vermont with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and minor degrees in Education and Art. Prior to this, he attended Vermont Technological College to study civil engineering. His years of travelling as well as his education positioned him in levels of understanding about math and life which have enabled him to complete this book.
