Suspense Prompt

Wait. This was all wrong. The last reenactment was supposed to have ended hours ago. But there he was. Fully clad in what she assumed was a historically accurate pirate costume and ordering 2 corn dogs with a not-so-hidden grin consuming the bottom half of his face.
“What are you doing here?”
“Ordering a corndog?”
She rolled her eyes.
“No,” she said, making no effort to hold back the wave of condescension flooding her voice. “What are you doing here?”
He started blankly at her.
“Well, I, uh…” His head flicked back to a group of men in similar pirate costumes standing about ten feet away. Two of them gave gave him an exaggerated thumbs-up. The other three were drunk. “I wanted to see you.”
“Did you ever consider that maybe I don’t want to see you?” Her voice was sharp and gritty.
“Well, uh…”
Before he could answer she gestured over one of the other employees and moved as quickly as she could to the back of the truck.
“Wait! Lea, I just want to talk!”
She moved as quickly and quietly as she could through the heavy metal door at the back of the truck and started slinking to her car, shedding the food truck uniform as she went just in case any of the other pirate uniform-clad actors spotted her.
Her phone began to buzz in her pocket.
