My View on Fake News

If you are involved in any kind of social media there's a high chance you have come in contact with some sort of fake news. Throughout 2016 and now early 2017 thousands of fake news story's have populated the web. Fake news has been around for years but, the recent election has took it to a whole new level.

Sadly, as much as this phenomenon needs to go away it doesn’t look like it will any time soon. The problem is, no one knows who should be responsible for stopping the spread of these articles. Should the social media company's begin to censor everything thing that is posted? Or is it the government’s job to stop the spread of these phony story's? Until America figures out who is responsible this will continue to be an everyday thing.

After doing some more research I read an article about an 18 year Macedonia. This teen got rich during the U.S. presidential election producing fake news for on social media. The teen claims he made thousands of dollars producing these storys. The fact that the majority of this fake news is being posted by people in different countries is a serious problem.

It is a shame that in 2017 people have to constantly fact check, what is posted as real news. Social media and online news websites are being used for all the wrong reasons these days.
